February Is Heart & Stroke Month

Hello All
One of my major decisions for this year is to put more time into things that I value. My top five values fall under Faith, Family, Knowledge, Creativity and Purpose. I did allot of thinking in January to decide where I should be committing my time and resources and I realized that for me it included raising awareness and support for the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

As many of you may already know my father died on March 4, 2011 after he suffered a massive stroke. My sisters and I had to sit idly by as our father just drifted away from us. Last week my godfather also died from a stroke. Ironically I had already contacted the Heart and Stroke Foundation to find out what I could do as a fundraiser. I think maybe God wanted to be sure the wheels were in motion before I got so angry at strokes that I would not want to help out. Now I am just plain frustrated.

I want to help raise awareness so other people won't have to lose their loved ones to this.  I am asking you now, one woman to another, please help me raise awareness and support. I certainly don't have any money to give, but I have time.....computer skills and a bit of social media know how so that is what I am going to donate. Maybe you have time to canvass door to door, or start an online campaign  or pass out brochures? Maybe you have ideas of your own. I know that you are very creative individuals. So please take a few moments during the month of February to think about what you can do to support the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

So far I have started an online campaign, a 31 Gifts Tote Fundraiser and I plan to be tweeting and messaging about Heart and Stroke all month.  I am not done yet! I am going to keep wracking my brain all month to think of things.  If you have any ideas to share please do.  I know so many of you have been touched by Heart Disease and Strokes...can you share you story?

Please be sure to join me  My Grandma's Teacups on Facebook to keep up with my efforts. If you are able, please visit my online donation page in memory of my Dad Heart & Stroke Fundraiser. If you live locally and would like to purchase a 31 Gifts tote for $40 ($10 from each tote will be donated to Heart and Stroke Foundation) please message me and I will send you the information. Please keep my tweets and Facebook posts going....every little bit helps.

Thank you so much for all of your support.

I'm Having A Party, and You're All Invited!

You know you are spending allot of time with your 4 year old when your blog titles start to be quotes from Yo Gabba Gabba songs.

I am so excited that the new Close To My Heart Catalogue is launching February 1st! The new vintage and floral products are exactly my style. That being said, the outgoing 2013 Fall /Winter Catalogue had some beautiful stamp sets and papers that I am going to miss.

The Frosted Workshop on The Go layout was one of my favourites from this catalogue.  We had so much fun assembling this beautiful layout (minus the snowflake tiny piece picking issues).

The Frosted Card making workshop was a real favourite around here. I had to hold several sessions to get everyone in.

Did you have a chance to work with the gorgeous Huntington collection.  This line was geared to fall but I think it has a vintage flair that can be used for many projects year round.

Oh, and what about the new Cricut Artbooking Cartridge. I admit I was not immediately won over by this cartridge but once I started to watch all the inspiring videos put out by Close To My Heart, I was hooked.

Watch the videos here:
Artbooking: Love is in the Air
Artbooking: Mini-Book Inspiration
Artbooking: Celebration Albums
Artbooking: Elegant Layouts

Artbooking: Friendship Layouts

There were so many amazing products that came out in this catalogue I am having a hard time picking just a few. What was your favourite stamp or paper from the 2013 Fall/Winter Catalogue? There are only a few days left to pick up the last few goodies on your wishlist. Come join my FB Say So Long To Winter Party!
FB Party and remember to grab the super cute kit for:

If you are interested in hosting a facebook party of your own and earning free and discounted products there is still time to take advantage of the Hostess Bundles.

See you at the party! Bring pictures of all your creations from the 2013 Fall/Winter Catalogue.

My Close To My Heart Spring/Summer 2014 Party Goodies Arrived Today!

Oh my it feels like Christmas again. My order with all the fun new stamps and papers from the new idea book came today. It was so much fun opening package after package of pretty papers, kits and stamps.  I can not wait for the Open House. We are going to have so much fun! The new project life kit was really interesting. The cards in it are beautiful and the page protectors are the same incredible quality as our regular page protectors. I could definitely see why so many people got into project life. It looks like and incredibly speedy way to create beautiful memory albums.
Now I am inspired to clean out my stamp collection and get rid of all the old stamps that I am not using. Who knows this could lead to a complete destash.

I am trying to run with the idea that if I let things go then it will allow room for better things. Not just new stamps but in other areas of my life as well.

I am going to go start playing with all the goodies. I hope you can join me for the Idea Book launch party either at my house or on FB.

Happy Crafting!

Busy as a bee

Hello All.

It seems I am destined to fall behind on my blogging these last few weeks. I had such good intentions for 2014 too. Motherhood always comes before blogging right! My second little trooper is down with the flu today. The youngest will return to school tomorrow but I think Monkey may need to be kept home at least one more day.

I have not been totally absent from social media though, thank goodness for smartphones and wi-fi that allow me to check in when the kids are tended too. So, though I may be absent from the blog for a couple more days (flu and funerals) I would love for you to join me over on FB where I am hosting a couple of parties with giveaways. One is even a mystery hostess....whoooo....

Our friend Charlotte Barker from Jamberry Nails is also gearing up to have a special party just for you Tea Cozies. I am so excited.

Oh, and don't forget we are planning a Tea Party with Kareen Ferguson of Steeped Tea. The harsh driving conditions have convinced us that the Tea Party should be a spring event.

I also have a fundraiser for Heart and Stroke coming up and planning for what to do to raise money for relay for life.

Most exciting of all I am having a Close To My Heart Open House on February 1st to celebrate the launch of the new Spring/Summer 2014 Idea Book. This is by far my favourite collection of stamps and papers. I can't wait to show Charlotte the hot air balloon stamps and paper. I know she is going to go crazy over them. If you are not local, please join in the fun by joining my  Facebook Party! If you are nearby please stop in on Saturday February 1st from 1-3pm.

Fred Mahoney

Hello Friends,
Today I lost someone that has been a part of life as far back as I can remember. Most of my life I would have swore to you that I hated this guy. He tweaked my nose and pulled my hair, he called me chubby and said I wore too much make up. He loved me. He was always there in the crowd for me. I was so blessed to have had him in my life. I don't think his crankiness could keep him out of heaven, so i will expect his full critique on how I live the rest of my life without his interference.....See you when I get there Fred. I love You.

Artbooking Made Easy: Love Is in the Air

Is there something on your mind. Feel free to share it.

My Grandma's Teacups Studio Tour

Hello friends! My goodness how time gets away from me.  I had so many post ideas floating around in my head that I thought that I had actually posted them. This my fellow bloggers is why we are supposed to use editorial calendars right!
As you might already know I have been super busy getting my new studio space organized. The abrupt way in which I was forced to move into the space before Hubby had been able to finish it was a bit of a challenge for me (we will call it the flood of 2013). Now that I am cozily situated in the new space I am in love.  I thank my wonderful facebook pals for choosing such a wonderful cheery colour for me. The room is not 100% finished and so Hubbs was reluctant for me to post pictures but with this disclaimer that the room still needs trim and a bit of paint...a few ceiling tiles...a couple shelves and some artwork...he is agreeing for me to show just you...(my closest friends) my incredible new space. First I want you to see what he started with. Please keep in mind that we fostered some rather active children in the last decade.

Ok so are you ready for this?
Though he did do an amazing job on this renovation I do think I deserve some credit for being so incredibly clever as to marry such a talented man.  You are all invited to come over for a cup of tea! In a spillproof container of course!
Special shoutout to my awesome friends in our new scrapbook club! I have not laughed so hard in a very long time.

A New Year, a new start.

The last  of the boxes have moved over to my brand new studio. This has caused a slight issue with wifi access. My husband says he will solve this week.In the meantime my ability to post articles will be limited. I hope you are having a wonderful new year.
