My Grandma's Teacups Scrapbooking and Craft Supplies: My New Obsession: Treasure Hunting

Ok, maybe not quite treasure hunting....but it certainly feels like it. I have been scoping out the local thrift stores to find vintage things that catch my eye. It is so much fun going to the store not knowing what you might find. Sometimes, its a little scary what you can find in a thrift store but that only adds to the adventure.

These are my favourite finds from this week.

This is an itty bitty mixing bowl made between 1940-1960 by a company called Fire King. Its not particularly valuable on its own but it is really pretty so to me it counts as a great find.

This little cutie is a collectible Norman Rockwell Mug from the Norman Rockwell Museum with a copyright date of 1982 on it. Ahhh the good old days of my youth.
Did your family have a boat load of Blue Mountain Pottery in their china cabinet? Mine did but somehow it never came to I think this set is pretty even if it is not a family heirloom.

I fell in love with this little guy and never noticed the big dollup of crazy glue holding the handle on. Seriously my 6 six year old could have done a more accurate job on the glueing. Its a cool piece though as it was made by Ridgway of Staffordshire England and says the company was established in 1792. Its interesting because the history takers tell us that Ridgway did not start its pottery business until 1802 and became a part of Royal Dalton in the 1960's.

Do you like to Thrift? I am going to start a Pinterest Board. Please feel free to message me so that you can be added to the board and you can share your favourite finds.

My Grandma's Teacups Scrapbooking and Craft Supplies: Vintage Inspired Scrapbook Layout

I think sometimes as scrapbookers we get caught up in adding as many sparkles, bling and embellies as we can to make our layouts pop. This layout was a nice reminder that sometimes the KISS principle is the way to go. Mr. McWilliams my highschool art teacher always preached the principle of Keep It Simple Sweetheart. This beautiful paper from Fabscraps lends itself perfectly to a simple design. We used a little bit of distress ink and a few flat backed pearls to create what I think turned out to be a beautifully elegant layout.

We used Fabscraps Secret Garden 2 (1) , American Crafts Smooth Brown Sugar Cardstock (1) American Crafts Smooth Leaf Cardstock (1)American Crafts Smooth Denim (1) Close To My Heart as the base but any sturdy cardstock would be fine.  I used my cricut to cut out the damask pattern as well at the flowers, wheelbarrow, vines and tags. The ink that we used to distress the paper was Tim Holtz Vintage Photo as well as Close To My Heart Smokey Plum for the flowers.

My Grandma's Teacups Scrapbooking and Craft Supplies: Father's Day is Coming: Need Some Inspiration?

As I was getting ready for our card club today I realised how close it is getting to Father's Day. I was not worried about it because I knew that we had planned on making Father's Day cards at this club for some time. Then I wondered what other people have been crafting up for Father's Day. I thought I would do a quick roundup of some of my favourite cards from around the web to help inspire your creation.

Just click on the caption for each activity to visit the blog of these crafty folks.

This would be great with a "I Love YOu To The Moon" title

This would be cute with a "Wishing You a Happy Father's Day" title.

Whatever you think up for your Father's Day Celebration be sure to let the little ones get right in there and get messy. Its that part they will remember most.

Happy Crafting!
