The Art of the Slow Monday Reset

Hey friend! I’m so glad we are finally catching up. I know exactly how loud and rushed your Monday can get, and I can hear how much energy you poured into today. Now that you are finally home, step away from the screens and let that busy workday fade into the background. You survived the Monday rush—now it’s time to take care of you.

Let's intentionally set aside just one hour tonight to completely decompress, slow down, an analog digital detox aesthetic experience, and create something beautiful.

Before we do anything else, go ahead and grab your favorite journal. Next, find a small basket, a wooden tray, or an empty container that can hold a few pretty paper goodies. Today, we aren't planning a rigid schedule or worrying about a perfect layout; we are simply going to create a page that reminds us of the beautiful day right outside our window.

Step 1: Gathering the Elements of Spring

Open up your stash and start pulling pieces that feel like fresh, blooming energy to you. Look for:

  • Soft floral print papers and delicate patterns
  • Pastel solid cardstock sheets
  • Beautiful Victorian Haberdashery printables (like the free ones you can download directly from the blog!) to add that perfect touch of vintage feminine ephemera
  • Small floral pattern washi tape
  • Floral die cuts or stickers that catch your eye for your aesthetic sticker journal layouts

As you find these treasures, place them gently into your little basket. You don't have to decide right now how or where you are going to use them. For now, just let yourself be inspired by the colors and textures in your hands as you enjoy these slow crafting ideas.

Step 2: Preparing Your Fresh Canvas

Once your basket is filled with spring inspiration, choose a piece of your pastel cardstock. Cut a piece that is just slightly smaller than your actual journal page, double-checking the measurements to ensure it will fit perfectly with a lovely, soft margin all the way around the edge.

Now, close your journal and set it completely aside. Don't worry about the book for a moment. Instead, focus all your attention on that beautiful, blank pastel canvas sitting on the desk right in front of you.

Step 3: Layering the Pockets

Take your floral print paper and gently tear it into small corners of various sizes. Don't use a paper trimmer here—let the edges be beautifully frayed and textured for that classic nostalgic papercrafts look.

Begin layering these torn corners onto your cardstock canvas. By staggering them on top of one another, you can create a gorgeous, multi-tiered paper pocket that will securely hold your Victorian Haberdashery cutouts later.

Step 4: Crafting the Decorative Border

Next, cut a small strip of pastel cardstock measured to a half-inch by 4 inches. Place it on your desk in a vertical layout. This is going to be your creative playground!

Start gluing and sticking your smaller die cuts and stickers onto this strip. Take your time with this part. Touch the paper, breathe, and feel which images belong together and which little clusters naturally jump out at you. Once you are happy with this beautiful decorative band, glue it firmly down the left side of your main paper canvas.

Step 5: Tucking in the Magic

Now comes the fun part. Gather your larger floral die cuts and those gorgeous Victorian printable pieces from your basket, and slide them gently into your torn paper corner pockets. Let them peek out at different angles to create deep, rich layers of spring texture.

A Little Hidden Space: If you find you want more space to capture your private thoughts tonight, use the blank back of your printable ephemera cutouts to write your journal entries before sliding them safely away into the pockets.

Tear off a tiny, separate strip of paper, pick up your favorite pen, and write down the single best thing about your day today—even if it was just the moment you sat down to craft. Adhere that little note directly onto the cardstock.

Step 6: The Finishing Touches

Take a look at your creation. If any spot feels a little bit empty or needs a bit of grounding, tear off a piece of your floral washi tape to add a touch of visual interest.

Once every single layer feels secure and perfectly placed, apply your adhesive to the back of the cardstock and press the entire canvas beautifully into your journal page. To lock this memory in time, find a quiet corner of the page to elegantly write down the date and the year.

Take a deep breath. Look at what your hands made out of an ordinary Monday evening. You took the busy energy of the day and transformed it into a soft, quiet heirloom.
