Book Review: Vying for a Groom

Vying for A Groom (Love, Most Ardently, #2)Vying for A Groom by Sophie Leigh Fox
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I’m giving Vying for Groom four stars for its charm, humor, and the delicious tangle of complications that keep the pages turning. From the very start, the secret engagement adds a fun layer of anticipation, and watching how the characters maneuver to keep it hidden was both entertaining and clever.

The addition of an unsuitable suitor brought a surprising tenderness to the story as well, raising the stakes by showing how easily hearts can be swayed when emotions clash against expectations. And, of course, the antics of the spiteful maid—always scheming and stirring up trouble—gave the narrative a sharp edge that kept the romantic drama from becoming too predictable.

What makes this novel shine is the balance between lighthearted mischief and heartfelt moments. While a few twists felt slightly drawn out, the overall story still swept me up with its energy, wit, and romance. For readers who enjoy historical settings full of intrigue, love triangles, and a touch of scandal, Vying for Groom is a delightful pick.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
