Comfort Reads for Blustery Days: Regency Christmas Brides
There’s something magical about finding the perfect comfort read to start the year — especially when the winds are blowing, the snowflakes swirl, and your tea can’t seem to stay hot long enough. Regency Christmas Brides has quickly become my go-to series for these first blustery days of January.
This delightful Regency romance collection gathers some of my favourite authors in one place, each contributing stories that promise laughter, swooning, and a healthy dose of mischief. If you love sharp banter, unforgettable family antics, and just enough romance to warm your heart, this series will have you smiling one minute and misty-eyed the next.
At the centre of much of the fun is Great Aunt Edith — oh, what a character! She’s that perfectly eccentric relative every family seems to have, the one who lives to stir the pot. Except unlike most of our meddling aunts, her schemes come generously funded and nearly impossible to resist. I like to imagine her as one of the early pioneers of the “When I am old, I shall wear purple and red” philosophy.
Have you ever met one of those women in real life? I actually spotted a group of them last year while celebrating my birthday at the Mandarin. Their upswept hair, dazzling makeup, and delightful purple fascinators paired with vibrant red dresses absolutely stole the show. Their laughter filled the room, and I couldn’t help but envy the joyful, confident spirit they carried. Great Aunt Edith would have fit right in, no question!
Be warned, though — this series is dangerously addictive. Like a bowl of chips, you truly can’t stop at just one. Once you meet these characters and fall under the spell of their festive, romantic escapades, you’ll find yourself reaching for the next book immediately.
So, if you’re looking for something to chase away the January chill, pour yourself a cup of tea, grab your warmest throw, and spend an evening with Regency Christmas Brides. It’s the perfect mix of comfort, laughter, and love — exactly what we need to ease into the new year.
